I need a spare part called a palm rest for my Envy 17 j150nr The base lower left back is loose, so causes hinge to be off-kilter when opening and closing My regular tech guy said the palm rest is what he needs to fix but his supplier doesnt have the part and he couldnt find one. HELP! I love this mint condition laptop and reallly want to fix

Your hinges have come loose internally. You need much more than a palm rest. This is not a simple matter of replacing a single part. The laptop needs to be disassembled and the internal damage evaluated before you can come up with a parts list but you are likely to need new hinges, a new top cover and perhaps even a base assembly.
This is the part you are calling the palm rest and it is actually the whole top cover of the laptop:
For use on HP ENVY TouchSmart 17 Notebook PC computer models and computer modelsequipped with a non-TouchScreen display assembly, but not equipped with Leap Motion capability 720271-001
You really need to have someone experienced in this hinge issue help with this and I am also going to escalate to HP but given the age of the laptop I am not sure any meaningful help can be offered.
Feel free to post back with any more questions.
