Coil Whine Noise from HP Victus Laptop

Product Name: HP Victus 15

Operating System: Windows 11 Home (64-bit)

BIOS Version: F.19 (2024-11-19)

Problem

I’ve started hearing a high-pitched electrical noise (coil whine) coming from my HP Victus laptop. The noise is mostly audible from the GPU and CPU areas, and becomes more noticeable:

  • When the laptop is in battery mode
  • When performance load is low
  • Even in quiet mode, the sound is present
  • Noise reduces when the charger is plugged in or when the fan speed increases

What I’ve Tried So Far:

  • BIOS updated to latest version (F.19)
  • Chipset drivers updated
  • SSD replaced (Samsung & MSI tested)
  • Windows fully updated
  • Performance modes tested (Quiet, Balanced, Performance)
  • Coil noise still persists even after resetting BIOS settings to defaults
  • Coil noise location shifts: first noticed on GPU side, now heard from CPU area too

Recent Changes Before the Issue Started:

  • SSD replacement was done by a technician
  • BIOS and firmware were updated
  • Coil whine began about 3 months after purchase

My Questions:

  1. Is this coil whine considered normal behavior for this model?
  2. Can HP offer repair, replacement, or exchange if it’s a hardware defect?
  3. Is there any permanent fix or BIOS setting that can reduce or eliminate the sound?
  4. Could the SSD change or technician handling have triggered this issue?

Request:

Please help me resolve this issue. This is my first laptop from HP, and I really trust the brand — but this issue is making daily use uncomfortable, especially in quiet environments.
