Hello, the RAM of my laptop is 8 GB (4x2). I want to upgrade my ram to 16. If I do this myself, will it void the warranty? Can I send it to Technical Service? In detail please.

Hi:

This is a peer to peer forum.

We do not work for or represent HP, so we are unable to reply on HP's behalf regarding the warranty terms and conditions.

I recommend you contact HP customer service and seek a definite answer from HP.

Off the record, below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

If you look at chapter 5 of the manual, it indicates that installing memory or a SSD is a customer-authorized procedure, so in my opinion, you should not void the warranty upgrading the memory yourself as long as you don't break anything in the process.

Do note however, that if your notebook ever needs warranty work, you must return the notebook to its original hardware configuration before sending it in for service.
