HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab269sa (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have opened up the laptop and see there is  spare connector attached to the motherboard but I am unsure the function of this  connector.

Can  use this to add an M.2 SSD vis this connection and run the Laptop with both HDD & SSD? If so what M.2 form do I need to buy ?

If the only option to intsal an M.2 SSD is through the original 2.5" HDD which M.2 form should I buy so no connectivity adaptors are necessary ?

Lasrly if you able to anser above please recommend the best bdget M.2 SSD 500GB currently available.

You're very welcome.

If that is the only internal connector you see, then it is highly unlikely your PC has support for a M.2 SATA SSD.

Back in the time your PC was manufactured, normally the only time a notebook came with a M.2 SATA SSD slot, was if it came with a M.2 SATA SSD from the factory.

This eBay listing shows a picture of your PC's motherboard and there is no M.2 slot for a SSD.

The only M.2 connector I see on this motherboard is for the M.2 Wi-Fi adapter shown in the lower right corner.

If you want to upgrade to a SSD, your only option would be to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

If you want a recommendation for one of those, please let me know how much storage you want.

The M.2 SSD I posted will not work without fitting it in a 2.5" to M.2 SATA SSD adapter.

Hi:

Can you post a screenshot of the connector you see?

The service manual indicates that the model series comes with a M.2 SSD slot that supports M.2 SATA SSD's.

If you can confirm that connector is for a M.2 SSD and not the DVD connector, I recommend this model M.2 SATA SSD:

Many thanks indeed for your prompt reply which whilst you were no doubt typing I also realised my own stupidity and penny clicked that the spare connector was for the DVD.

However your recoomendation does help enormously as I assume I can still use the Timetec SATA III in the current HDD SATA connection without an adaptor ? Please let me know if I am wrong.
