WWAN / Mobile Broadband adapter / module

SIM card / Mobile Network Service Carrier

Many computers come with a SIM card slot.

Not as many computers come with the optional and required WWAN broadband module that connects your SIM card to the carrier's network.

Check the Device Manager -- If there is a WWAN card installed in your computer hardware, it will be included in the list of Network Adapters.

The WWAN card is mandatory to the process -- by itself the SIM card cannot connect to your mobile network account.

The WWAN card is not "any card will do"  -- You must have the module designated for your computer.

If WWAN is an option for your notebook / workstation, the part number and installation information is in the computer's Service manual.  Find the Service Guide and user manual in your Product Home > Category Setup & User Guides

Example - Device Manager - WWAN module / Windows 11 - Settings > Network & internet

Sample - Device Manager Check

Check your Device Manager to find the network adapter options detected in your system.

Device Manager is available in the Control Panel and in Computer Management

Example – Access Computer Management

Right-Click Windows Start in Taskbar > Computer Management > System Tools > Device Manager

Right-Column > More Actions > View > Select “View by” action

“Devices by type”

Control Panel > icon view > Device manager

Tab View >

Check Show hidden devices

Select Devices by Type

Expand Network adapters

Find / Right-Click on …XMM7360 LTE-A > Properties

Tab General > Item Device Status

Tab Details > Item Property > Device description

Method – Use PartSurfer to check the parts / components in your computer

PartSurfer might be able to tell you exactly which parts came with your computer.

  • For best results, use the Serial Number for your search
  • Reminder:  Do NOT post private information (including serial number) in the Community

 Open PartSurfer

  • Select your Country
  • Search for your computer / printer / device >> See HINT
  • Need Help?  Tab Self help > find and open the User Guide and FAQ

How to use PartSurfer:

  • Select your region / country - PartSurfer must know your general location
  • Enter your device Product Number , Serial Number, or Part Number in the Quick Search box
  • HINT: To see a system-specific list, replace the Product Number with your device Serial Number
  • Items accompanied by a tiny box in the Add-to-Cart column are available for purchase

Parts marked as "n/a" (or are missing from the list) are not available from HP.

Parts marked as available for purchase might be available > CHECK:  HP Parts Store

OR

When HP does not provide the part for retail purchase,

Use your search engine to find a compatible part number replacement at your favorite online store.
