Its specs

          https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06097503

It has   4 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB) now and supports 16GB (2 x 8GB) max. You can upgrade to

(a)  8GB: add same existing RAM to slot 2 or using the following compatible RAM (will run at 2133MHz)

                   https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct4g4sfs824a/ct13421999

(b) 16GB  highly recommended: install 8GB each to both slots  using the following compatible RAM (will run at 2133MHz)

                  https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k8g4sfs824a/ct13421979

Effect: More RAM will make your machine run faster specially HDD will run better rather than spinning to dead.

Regards.
