Here is the manual for the HP 250 G6 laptop.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05485525.pdf

The windows command-line  request to see how much memory can be installed is not always accurate.

In the case of your specific laptop it is indeed not accurate.

In the manual it shows a maximum of 16GB depending on the configuration.

It would help if you provided the product number and the installed video solution of the laptop.

Does it have a discrete graphics solution? That would be an  AMD Radeon M520 R17M-M1-30 with 2048 MB.

Mixing an 8GB and a 4GB module does not always work as expected.

Hi @cuzzo2

I take it that you have never upgraded a laptop or desktop PC before.

"which 4 and 8 GB ram are compatible with this pc?"

That isn't quite how upgrading memory successfully works.

Upgrading the memory of laptop and PC system boards has the best results when identical pairs of memory modules are used.

Mixing different memory capacity or  branded memory modules or double-sided memory and single sided memory modules is usually a roadmap to frustration.

Do you like being frustrated or would you rather have the upgrade work the first time you install it?

That is up to you. Personally I do not like having to do anything two or three times to get it to work.

Guaranteed compatible memory from well known memory manufacturers will give you the best results.

Crucial memory sells guaranteed compatible modules for your laptop. Purchase a pair of modules or a kit with two modules.

You will need to remove the module or modules your laptop was delivered with to upgrade successfully.

Your laptop can be upgraded to 16 GB of installed memory.

https://eu.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp-compaq/hp-250-g6-(intel-core-i7-7500u---i5-7200u---...

Kingston memory is another well known memory maker that sells modules in Europe.

If you understood my previous post  completely, you would know I asked for information that would let me understand how your specific laptop is configured. that was why I asked about the video solution.

I understand that English is not likely to be your first language, so if you do not understand the nuances of the English  language, that is completely understandable.

Hi,

I understand 🙂

I asked: "which 4 and 8 GB ram are compatible with this pc?"

because I still don't know whether to add 4GB or put 8GB (removing 4GB).

RAM Bank schema:

|_4_gb_|     | _4gb _|      or    |__8GB_|      |  empty_|

thanks for the links but my cpu is different, is it a problem?

No.

If you purchase the memory directly from Crucial Memory, they provide a  guarantee that the recommended memory will operate as expected.
