Dear Support,
I am reaching out to inquire about the possibility of updating the TPM version from 1.2 to 2.0 on my HP EliteBook 840 G3. Currently, my device has TPM version 1.2 installed, and I understand that Windows 11 requires TPM version 2.0. Could you please confirm whether it is possible to upgrade the TPM? If so, could you provide detailed instructions or resources on how to proceed with the update?
Additionally, if a BIOS or firmware update is required for this process, please let me know where I can find the appropriate files and instructions.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best regards,
Nikola

The TPM is not the only thing keeping you from installing Windows 11. You also have a 6th gen Intel Core processor which will not pass the hardware test. If you want Windows 11 you will have to do some workarounds to install it.

Making the custom boot disk with Rufus is perhaps the most straightforward.

Hi, @nika22421
As Huffer indicated, your notebook's processor does not meet Microsoft's minimum W11 hardware requirements, so updating the TPM 1.2 device to 2.0 would not matter.
But to answer your question, if you want to go through the trouble, see the info at the discussion below.
I also used the info on the HP link to update my Elitedesk 800 G3 DM from TPM 1.2 to 2.0 just for fun in June of 2023.

It is running W11 24H2 with an unsupported for W11 Intel i5-6500T processor using the video info I posted below.
IMHO, this is the easiest way to do an in-place upgrade from W10 > W11.
How to install Windows 11 24H2 on Unsupported PC (Early Access) 2024 (youtube.com)
Download the W24H2 ISO file and use that (3rd option).
Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)
You can download the free 7-Zip file utility from the link below. The top line is for 64 bit.
You'll have to repeat this procedure each October when Microsoft rolls out the new builds because a PC that does not meet Microsoft's minimum W11 hardware requirements will never automatically get the update to the next build.
Other than that, your PC will continue to get the monthly cumulative and other updates.
That's only a minor inconvenience to have continued OS support beyond October of 2025.
