Hi

I have notebook Elitebook 840 G7. It was without smart card reader and without fingerprint reader. I but original fingerprint and install it to motheboard and then reset in BIOS and it was work fine. I also buy original smart card reader and install and BIOS no found it and windows 11 also no found it. Smart card is ok i check it on other notebook. My Elotebook 840 G7 is model with CPU Intel u5 10310U. I have also second Elitebook 840 G7 but with manufacturer smart card installed and fingerprint. This elitebook has only other CPU intel I7 10510U. In this notebook smart card from my first notebook works ok.
Bios in both notebook is the same version.
On first notebook motheboard has connector on motheboard but smart card no working. Why ? It is blocked by BIOS or some other element was lost on motheborad  and smart card no working ? Please help me....

Hello.

Try re-seating the SC reader cable again.

Luckily you have two Elitebook 840 G7 models - test the SC reader AND cable in the second laptop to see that they are not faulty.

Hi. I tested it in second notebook and works ok. Also remove Smart card reader from second notebook and put in first and also no works.

Hi.

The laptop automatically detects all the installed components, and only then will show the corresponding BIOS settings for the device - such as the option to enable/disable them.

Since you seem to have done a thorough cross-testing with the parts, the problem must lie in the primary laptop system board. Check the SC card cable connector visually for any bent pins or other damage.

You  mentioned that both laptops have the same BIOS. Try updating it to the latest version as well - released last month. Try also restoring the BIOS defaults. (note down any custom settings first)

Connector on motheboard is in perfect status.... and plus also and cable. Problem is in hardware probably that no find new card reader,,,, some locked.
Fingerprint found with no problem after plug... only i must reset it in BIOS by special function in BIOS.
