Hi:

Yes, you should be able to do that, but you will first need to disable the Intel Optane memory chip in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software, and in the BIOS (if applicable) before installing a NVMe M.2 SSD.

What you need to do is to temporarily disconnect your 2.5" drive, install the NVMe SSD and install Windows on the NVMe SSD.

You can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook on the SSD.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility.

Once you test out the NVMe SSD and it works fine, then you can connect your 2.5" mechanical hard drive back up, but you will need to remove Windows from it, or I believe the PC will always want to boot from the 2.5" drive first, and not the SSD.

Hai Mr. one last question regarding SSD. I am planning to buy " Pny CS3040 1TB Hard Disk SSD" for my laptop - HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-cd0xxx ( optane memory SSD-16GB). kindly let me know does this SSD model will support my laptop.

Hi:

If this is the drive you are interested in buying, it should work fine.

Amazon.com: PNY XLR8 CS3040 1TB M.2 NVMe Gen4 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - M280CS3040-1TB-R...

However, you should know that the above SSD is PCIe Gen 4, and your notebook's M.2 slot is only Gen 3, so you will be paying extra money, and not getting the max performance out of the drive.

You may want to consider a different model for less money that is PCIe Gen 3.

Amazon.com: Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN570 NVMe Internal Solid State Drive SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8GB...

Amazon.com: SAMSUNG 980 SSD 1TB M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology...
