HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-eh1000 (2H5A7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,
I have a Pavilion 15-eh1028nq laptop with a Ryzen 5700U CPU and a RTL8822CE network card running Windows11.

Sometimes the download speed drops to 5Mbps which makes using it a pain. My WiFi works well on any other device so I figured I would upgrade the network card.

I bought 2 new cards from different sellers: an Intel AX200 and an AX210. I tried them on my laptop and neither of those work. The device boots, Bluetooth works, but WiFi does not show up. It's not even detected in Device Manager.

Why wouldn't they work? Do you have any other 'safe' recommendations? Thanks

The AX210 won't work no matter what.

The AX200 should have worked if you bought one with this HP part #/Intel SPS #:

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # L35282-005.

It's even listed as a supported card in chapter 3 of the service manual:

Maintenance and Service Guide

If that is the part number you bought, then the only other Wi-Fi 6 card I recommend you try is the other one listed in the service manual:

Realtek 8852AE Wi-Fi 6 Bluetooth 5.2 WLAN    HP part # M34029-005

Thanks for the quick reply!

May I ask what makes the AX210 incompatible?

Indeed my AX200 has a different Intel SPS number: L35284-005.

The HP part store is not available in my region, but I did find some listings with the supported SPS number.

I will order another one and report back. In the meantime I might try booting on Ubuntu to make sure it's not a driver issue.
Cheers!

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I would have no idea why the AX210 won't work but if you do a search on the forum, you will find at least a dozen posts where folks have installed the AX210 in AMD notebooks and for whatever reason it won't work with very, very few exceptions and your notebook's model series is not one of the exceptions.

Yes, so the reason the L35284-005 does not/will not work is because that is the SPS number for the AX200 vPro model which will only work on some HP business class notebook and desktop PC's that have Intel platforms that support the Intel vPro technology.

Consumer class Intel notebooks and all AMD notebooks must use the non-vPro version of the card which is L35282-005.

Cheers,

Paul

I finally got my hands on the non-vPro AX200 and it works!
Thanks again for the info!

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance, and thanks for letting us know that the Intel AX200 non-vPro wifi adapter works in your notebook.
