After a crash of the disk in the laptop, I installed Windows 10 on a new disk. Now I am trying to get the "acceleration" option in the Intel RST utility to use the internal SSD as a cache drive, but as many others on this forum I cannot seem to get it to show. I have installed the latest version of the Intel RST driver.
I have shrunk the main partition to leave space for RST (as some suggested) Also, I have disabled secure-boot, and enabled legacy boot (also suggested somewhere here on the forums)
Apparently I need to set RAID mode on the controller, but the bios on the HP Touchsmart 14 does not have such options.
Once I have seen the Intel RAID bios menu (when the disk crashed), but I have been unable to get back into this. Perhaps someone can tell me how to get into this menu ?
Anything else I need to do ? Is there any program in windows that can show me the controller mode ?
Thanks !

The Controller mode shows up in device manager under storage controllers. Yours should have the word RAID in it. You should be able to get to the RAID configuration utility by setting the BIOS to legacy boot. But you do nto use that to set the RAID array. The accelerator cache disk should be blank. Remove any partitions from it and leave it as unallocated space. IRST will partition and format it for you. Can you ge the IRST console to come up?
Looks like this

Thanks for the reply !
Yes, I do get the IRST console, but not the bottom part about acceleration. In the side panel I see my 2 disks (1Tb HD and 24Gb SSD).
I've tried several things I found on various forums, including reducing the main partition on the HD by 24Gb to leave space for RST, removing any partitions from the SSD, making it MBR, ... But no luck. no "acceleration" part in the IRST...
Even in legacy mode I can't seem to get into the RAID Bios setup - have tried the Ctrl-I that should get me there, but to no avail. (Nor Ctrl-G,H,R which seem to be other versions of Intel Raid Bios-es)
I see you have several partitions in the SATA_array. Are those created automatically by the acceleration options ?
The controller in device manager does not have the word RAID - its "Intel(R) Chipset SATA/PCIe RST Premium Controller"
The strange thing is, that this seemed to work perfectly fine when it had windows 8.1 on it...
Thanks

So I think I may be able to change the "mode" to RAID if I can actually get into this Intel bios setup menu.
Like I said, I was able to see this *once* because it was missing a disk in the configuration (the crashed disk). I don't remember all the settings, but I deleted the raid config that was there... 😞
Can you think of any way to get back into that menu ?
Thanks,
Mark
