no power, no lights intermittently (twice so far).  First time started up after I was manually trying to get a CD out of the drive and had the machine upside down, etc.  Today started after removing battery and putting it back in.  Not what happened in either case.  Have tried every combination with cord and battery, including each with working ones from other computers that are identical.  Seems it must be a loose connection inside the computer.  When this happens, there is no light at plug.  I can't find a number for HP tech support, I've gone through all troubleshooting, Staples says I have to contact HP, even though I boughts it from them 3 months ago.  Any suggestions?

Hi @ptknight,

Thank you for showing your interest in the HP Forums,

I'd like to help 🙂

I see from the post that you are having intermittent power issues on your HP notebook. Further adding to this you have already with a different adapter and still the issue persists, this definitely confirms to be a hardware issue. Since you have a One year warranty on the product with HP, I would personally suggest you send in the computer for repair where all the components would be tested and which ever part is bad or faulty it would be replaced.

I would recommend you contact our HP phone support for available service options. Please fill in the product details to get the tech support number.

What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Called and made arrangements for shipping.  Box is on the way and total turn around is 6-7 days including shipping.  That's pretty impressive to me.  Thanks HP.
