My laptop was showing the warning for internal battery issue, error 601, but it suddenly stopped working yesterday. What to do? 

It's showing a blank screen with a cursor.

Internal Battery Error (601)

This error indicates that the primary internal battery's storage capacity is significantly reduced. Here are some steps you can try:

  1. Reinsert the Battery: Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, and then reinsert it. This can sometimes reset the connection.
  2. Run a Battery Test: Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI to run a battery test. This can help you understand the battery's health.
  3. Update BIOS: Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve battery-related issues. Check the HP website for the latest BIOS update for your model.
  4. Replace the Battery: If the battery is old, it might be time to replace it.

Blank Screen with Cursor

This issue can be caused by various factors, including corrupted system files or display driver issues. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Restart Explorer.exe: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Go to File > Run new task, type explorer.exe, and press Enter.
  2. Boot in Safe Mode: Restart your laptop and press F8 repeatedly before Windows starts. Select Safe Mode and see if the issue persists.
  3. Update Display Drivers: In Safe Mode, open Device Manager, find your display adapter, and update the driver.
  4. System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a previous state when it was working fine.
