Internal laptop camera displaying black screen.

Screen displays camera controls on a black screen. I have run the windows trouble shooter and spoken with Microsoft who advise it is a driver issue. I've checked HP Support for manufacturer's driver but I am using windows 11 and nothing is listed in HP Support.

Where can I find a laptop pc camera driver for HP Laptop using windows 11?

What is the laptop model ?

Not all of them have drivers, the windows drivers are used, there are laptops that have a privacy cover and need to be moved, but without a laptop model it is not possible to help.

Sometimes the camera on an HP laptop doesn't need a special driver.

Most HP laptops like mine have the camera driver under the USB Controller connection.

However, if you really need the driver, here is the driver.

verify that the button is in the correct position. Not download controllers from unreliable sources

Try checking first in the directory C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository, is there a folder called usbvideo?

Button is in ‘camera on’ position. Usual camera controls are displayed on black screen.

Do you only see a black image or is there an error number? Is the webcam recognized in the Device Manager ?

There is no error code (unless I switch the camera button off then I get camera not found message).

in Device Manager under ‘cameras’ is PC Camera
