HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-eu0000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I feel like this is indicative of a thermal issue with the hardware, but I'd like to make sure. This an HP Envy x360 15 inch that is less than 2 months old. With nothing but OneNote and 2 Firefox tabs open, the CPU temperature quickly shoots to 80 degrees causing the fans to start spinning noisily until the temperature drops back to about 70 give or take 5. This is without even actively using the computer. Having the laptop in tablet mode on a flat surface might contribute to the problem since it looks like this position restricts airflow to 2 of the three main vent areas, but I feel like the temperature still shouldn't be that high. CPU usage doesn't even go above 20% for this to happen. Is this normal for this model, or is something faulty with my unit? I should add that there is a distinct "heat/burning" smell coming from the laptop when the fans run. Thanks in advance for any input.
