See chapter 1 of the service manual for the memory upgrade info and supported drive types:

 

Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion Notebook PC

 

The service manual indicates that your notebook's M.2 slot only supports SATA SSD's but here is a post that shows NVMe SSD's will also work.
