Is it possible to perform a software update of TPM Ver 1.2 to TPM Ver 2.0 to my laptop, and if so, how?  Or do I need to replace the TPM module to TPM Ver2.0?

Yes, you can upgrade your notebook's TPM 1.2 security device's firmware to 2.0.

See this link for more info on that and I have attached the instructions for how to do the upgrade, below.

Thanx Paul.

If I do this firmware update, will my data and software on my laptop be safe, ie won't be "accidentally" deleted because of this?

You're very welcome.

Updating the TPM firmware should not impact Windows or your files.

I used those instructions to update the TPM 1.2 firmware to 2.0 on my HP Elitedesk 800 G3 desktop mini PC and it went without a hitch.

Ok, I'm feeling a little more comfortable now 🙂

Would this be the correct update sequence to follow:

Step 1) Run the BIOS update from N75 Ver 01.44 to N75 01.62 (SP152405)
Step 2) Run the TPM update from 1.2 to 2.0 (SP81900)

You're very welcome.

A BIOS update isn't necessary to update the TPM firmware, so if you want to update the BIOS, that is up to you and you could do it before or after you update the TPM firmware.
