One thing I have noticed about devices, whether a phone or, in this case a laptop, the lower the free space it has the slower it goes. When I bought my laptop, I thought 6gb RAM 1TB storage was enough but I was wrong about RAM and maybe 1TB is not enough either. Now last thing I want to do is waste too much money on something when simply buying a new one will suffice but I want all options before i consider buying a better laptop.
I know I can simlpy move stuff out of the hard drive but theres things that I cannot simply remove, hence my question of adding more storage. I wont be adding more storage so soon but I want options now for later.

@Jack413 , welcome to the forum.
When you bought the laptop in 2015 the memory and storage were above average. Now, with the increase in the size of files it has become increasingly less adequate. Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the laptop. In Chapter 5, Removal and replacement procedures for Authorized Service Provider parts, Page 46, it lists a 2 TB Hard Drive. You can upgrade, but you will have to remove the 1 TB drive. There is no M.2 socket on the motherboard.
