ENVY x360 Convertible 15-bp005na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question - is it possible to upgrade the graphics card in the ENVY x360 Convertible 15-bp005na laptop?

I'm interested in trying out some VR products but I'm aware my current graphics card won't support them.

Many thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately, the Nvidia chip is integrated into the system board and is not an upgradeable component.

Hi,

It is not possible to upgrade the GPU as it is integrated on the motherboard (soldered) along with graphics subsystem.

The only way would be to replace motherboard which would probably cost more than buying new PC with desired specs an I believe is would not help as you have the most powerfull GPU of the !5-bp000 series. (page 42 of service manual)

Hope it helps,

Hi both,

Having read other posts for similar laptops I suspected as much but many thanks for taking the time to confirm this.

Thanks again

Good question, I was wondering the same and figured that you can't upgrade the internal graphic card. BUT...has anyone tried to go with an external graphic card? Would it work

@FrankyPC
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

To get the answer to this question, it's not possible. The external graphics card may or may not work as they are not tested by HP and may not be accurate.

NOTE: HP does not recommend upgrading or downgrading hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product as It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance, however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
