As it turns out, for most things, this laptop works perfectly but some of the applications I run are a little more taxing and I would like to ADD MEMORY(which I thought would be very simple), but I'm having a heck of a time figuring out A. if I am able to do that (does it have two ram slots?)/ B. what is compatible?!
I'm really not a computer person anymore, and it's getting increasingly difficult to do simple tasks 😛 please help. I'm getting mixed messages from what I've researched. Before I just start taking things apart, I wanted to see if someone had an answer for me 🙂 Thank you!!

Hi:
Unless someone on this forum has your notebook model and has opened it up, there is conflicting information.
Below is the link to the service manual.
Chapter 1 indicates the memory is onboard (soldered to the motherboard) and is non-upgradable.
PC's come preconfigured with 8, 12 or 16 GB.
But if you look at chapter 5, pages 35 & 36, there is a procedure to remove and replace the memory, and there are even HP part numbers for the different capacity memory modules.
So, unless someone has a definite answer for you, you will have to open up the notebook and see which chapter of the service manual is correct.
If you find that the memory is upgradable, here would be links to compatible 8 and 16 GB memory chips.

Paul,
^ I stumbled upon Rory's post whilst looking for answers & there is two slots! so I guess I'm going to check anyway before I order something (thanks for the links, btw). But I'm pretty sure now it will, in fact, be upgradeable. I was also in the manual earlier and that was the point at which I threw my hands up in the air and came here, haha
I really appreciate that you were so thorough in your response! 🙂
Thank you so much for your help with this.

You're very welcome.
I'm glad you found that post which seems to confirm that chapter 5 is correct.
If you look at the Crucial memory report for your notebook, even they indicate the memory is not upgradable.
I have the Envy 15-ee047nr model, and the service manual indicates the same as yours, and so does the crucial memory report. Chapter 1 says no, and chapter 5 says yes.
Someone on this forum took one apart and found the memory was indeed upgradable.
