My HP laptop, bought brand new about 2.5 year ago, runs terribly slowly and has done for about 2 years! I've been thinking about replacing it because of the poor performance. Today, I rechecked the spec of my current machine and find it's got 4Gb RAM and 1Tb hard disk - sounds quite big to me! It's got an AMD processor - AMD A9-9420 Radeon R5. My supplier tells me I can't upgrade the memory, but it seems to me that the main problem is with the processor and memory both running at nearly 100% utilisation for much of the time, making even the simplest of tasks frustratingly slow. Is there anything I can do to improve the performance, or shall I just bin it?

Firstly what EXACTLY is your machine ? It is only 2.5 years old therefore upgrading its RAM or HDD could improve a lot. Of course, when you have a big pocket, you can buy new machine and bin it.
Please use the following way to find out the model/product of your machine

Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).
Regards.

Hi, seems to be a 15-bw069sa (also says Product 2FP08EA on the HP registration page).
The shop where I bought it told me it was not possible to upgrade the memory on this model, but I'd be very interested to receive your more expert advice, please.
