HP Envy - 17-ae100ce
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I realize that the spec sheet on the HP Support site indicates that it's a Gen 1 port, but I'm confused because I've seen several instances now of retailers and even PC tech magazines/websites giving conflicting information. For example, in this article found on the PCWorld site https://www.pcworld.com/article/3272806/laptop-computers/hp-envy-17-specs-features-price-release-dat... they state that it's a Gen 2 port with the commensurate 10 Gbps data transfer speed. I'd really appreciate getting a conclusive answer either way. Thanks!

I did go through the Product specifications and found that your PC is shipped USB Type-C Gen 1 and not Gen 2.

For more details, you can also go through the Maintenance and Service guide of your notebook.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance.
