HP Laptop PC 14-d2000 (2D126AV)

Hello,
I’m reaching out because I’m experiencing multiple issues with my HP 14-DQ2507LA notebook, purchased online on September 30, 2024, and used since October 3. Here’s a summary of the situation:

February 13:

  • After an update, the laptop started making a constant noise (similar to Coil Whine).
  • The charging stopped working for the entire afternoon and only started again after 9 PM.
  • Since then, the noise has not stopped.

February 24:

  • I contacted support and was assisted by Keivin, who remotely checked the device.
  • He mentioned the noise was related to RAM capacity and disabled some background platforms.
  • The noise decreased temporarily but then returned.

March 7:

  • For the past three days, the charger has been malfunctioning.
  • Sometimes it charges, sometimes it doesn’t, and I have to move it constantly to connect.
  • I’m concerned because I use this laptop for work, and it shouldn’t have these issues so soon.

I would appreciate any help in resolving these problems. Thank you!

Hi @Coni1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds really frustrating to deal with both unexpected noises and intermittent charging after the update. I can only imagine how unsettling it must be to hear your PC acting up when it should be running smoothly. Let’s take this step by step—first, we can try to identify where the noise is coming from, whether it’s the fan, the hard drive, or something else. As for the charging issue, I know how important it is to have a reliable power connection, so we’ll troubleshoot that too. Don’t worry, I’m here to help, and we’ll work through this together!

1. Please check the Vents are blocked or is there any dust below or on the sides of the printer.
2. Please make sure that the Notebook is kept on a flat surface and has proper ventilation, (If kept on couch or sofa or on beds due to ventilation issue noise starts on the PC.)
3. Check for HP and Windows updates:
a. Press Win + I to open Settings.
b. Click on Update & Security (Windows 10) or Windows Update (Windows 11).
c. Click Check for updates.
d. If updates are available, Windows will download and install them automatically.
e. Restart your PC if prompted.

Now let's work to fix the charging issue: Please try to perform a BIOS Restore and keep the device on observation and let us know how it works.

BIOS Restore:
1) Shutdown the computer, keep the  charger plugged

2) Hold down the Windows and B button together while the computer is still turned off.

3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B button until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.

4) Follow on-screen instructions and click on OK

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
