Product: Pavilion DV6-6c38TX
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
I have an HP DV6-6c38TX i7 which is a bit aged now, running a 2 Gen CPU.
I was hoping to upgrade this to at least a 6 Gen however I was wondering if this is possible, are the cips plugged in, or soldered on the board. ?
thanks

Hi Krammig,
Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03099531
Specs: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c03200989
It came with i7-2670QM dual core processor.
Page 1, 2 list the compatible processors.
Motherboard (and chipset) is unique to type of processor (Intel/AMD, Dual/Quad core), discrete graphic system, graphic memory and USB 3 version (page 25).
So, the top processor you can fit in is i7-2860QM (page 26), which is not going to give you a major boost.
