Hi! I have a Chromebook 14a and My Shift, arrows and number keys have stopped working. I have done a factory reset and restart following all the normalinstructions but nothing has worked. I rely on this so need help.

Hi @JamesB200

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your Chromebook 14a keyboard. If you have already done a factory reset and restart without success, here are a few additional troubleshooting steps to consider:

Check Keyboard Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Device > Keyboard on your Chromebook and ensure that the settings are correctly configured for all keys.

Use an External Keyboard:

  • Connect an external USB keyboard to your Chromebook to check if this resolves the problem. If the external keyboard works fine, it might indicate a hardware issue with the internal keyboard.

Inspect for Physical Obstructions:

  • Carefully inspect your keyboard for any debris or damage that might be causing the malfunction. Use compressed air to clean the keyboard gently.

Reinstall Chrome OS:

  • As a last resort, reinstalling the Chromebook's OS might resolve software-related issues that weren't fixed with a factory reset. This would ensure all system files are correctly configured.

Check for Updates:

  • Ensure your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS as updates may fix existing issues.

Let me know how far you get with these steps — I’ll stick with you until it’s sorted.
