HP 15-F387wm (AMD Series)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I recently replaced my laptop's keyboard, and the LEDs don't work. When I checked the drivers for the keyboard, I noticed that the HID Keyboard driver was missing... Can someone provide me with a link or something to get the driver reinstalled?

If unplugging/replugging doesn't solve it i would contact the seller. I notice on their ad on Amazon they mention free replacement or refund if it doesn't work- after reinstalling at least 5 times. I assume that means unplug/replug 5 times.

Will I need to perform a hard reset?

HP Recommended

@Hyp3rDeath1011 You could perform a hard reset using the steps in this link: Click here

And if that doesn't help, please go ahead and install all windows updates followed by updating the BIOS, and chipset drivers using the HP website: Click here to find and install the same.

P.S: Welcome to HP Forums! 😉

Will the hard reset wipe my hard disk drive? I have everything backed up on OneDrive, but I only want to do a hard reset as a last resort. Will downloading the most recent BIOS driver update reinstall the HID keyboard driver?

HP Recommended

1-a hard reset does not wipe the hard drive.

2-my laptop has backlit kbd and it has Standard PS/2 kbd in Device Manager

3-a backlit kbd usually has two cables that must be plugged into motherboard. Not all laptops support backlit kbd.

Driver has been reinstalled, but the LEDs for the caps lock, num lock, audio, and Wi-Fi keys still don't do anything...

I still have my laptop's previous keyboard, as I kept it in case the new one failed.

I've currently got all the correct drivers downloaded from the HP Support Assistant application, and I checked the Device Manager. The driver is installed properly...

@Hyp3rDeath1011

Have you tried unplugging/replugging the kbd cable to be sure it is secure?

Is the kbd the correct part for your model as specified in> Manual?

Are you sure the kbd is good- is it new, purchased from reputable seller?

Of course, even a new part can be received not 100% working.
