@anonymous-fr,

Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from your post you information and assistance related to backlit keyboard on your HP notebook. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

After reviewing your post thoroughly, I see that certains model of notebooks are shipped with backlit keyboard. On these products, F5 action key is used to turn on the keyboard backlight feature.

Unfortunately there is no separate backlight key for spacebar.

For more details on how to use the backlight feature, please go through this support document for - HP Notebook PCs - Turning a Backlit Keyboard On or Off

Product Specifications : HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0000nf Product Specifications ( I see that your notebook is shipped with Full-size island-style backlit keyboard with numeric keypad).

I hope this information helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, the 'F5' key works perfectly to turn on the keyboard lighting, all keys are lit but only the space keys are not lit. I could read that some models did not have lighting for the space key. Could you confirm that my model has light for the Space key please.

Also, for my case, on your suggested link

step How do I adjust the brightness of the backlight? not work.

@anonymous-fr,

Thank you for replying,

As I see you still have some concern regarding the backlight of the keyboard. Don't worry I'll try my best to help you with this.

Here's the User guide of your notebook and unfortunately there is no separate backlight key for the spacebar.

To adjust the brightness of the backlight, press the key with the backlight icon  two or three times in a row. The keyboard backlight dims and brightens. It might be necessary to press the fn (function) key at the same time to activate the backlight key.

I hope this answers your question, let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than glad to assist you.

"there is no separate backlight key for the spacebar. "

yes, but the Space button has light on this product normally?

Sorry but none of the steps you recommend are working or helping me. Knowing that when I bought this computer, the key "<>" did not work, I had to update the BIOS and I think since I lost the lighting of the key. I installed some programs (VMware Workstation Player), enabled virtualization in the BIOS and that's it. Since I have no light on my space key. Do you have other solutions please?

Hello @anonymous-fr,

If you mean that it seems that there is no backlight available for the spacebar, then there is nothing wrong with the laptop.

I can notice this identical behaviour on my Spectre 13, Star Wars laptop, and my dad's ENVY 15.

I'm pretty sure there just isn't any backlight for the spacebar. While it may look a bit inconsistent or strange in the dark, I honestly wouldn't find much use for a backlit spacebar considering that it's easily the biggest key on any conventional keyboard.

Thank you for your reply. This does not bother me either but for a new product I expect what works properly so I check. The problem is that I had to do some manipulations because a key did not work so I do not know if it is normal or not that there is no light on the space key. I would just like the tell me that on the model CX0000NF there is or no light for this famous touch.  I'm sure I had some light before doing the manipulations to make the "<>" key work, but I still doubt it. Thanks for your feedback @Eddy.
