@Akash_2309, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
We understand that you are facing an issue with your Delete key not working on your HP Notebook.
Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
Basic Checks
- Restart your notebook: Sometimes a simple reboot can fix temporary glitches.
- Test the Delete key in different apps (e.g., Notepad, Word, browser): This helps determine if the issue is app-specific.
Check for Physical Issues
- Inspect the key: Make sure there’s no dust, debris, or physical damage.
- Try an external USB keyboard: If the Delete key works on an external keyboard, the issue may be hardware-related.
Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards.
- Right-click your keyboard device and choose Update driver.
- If that doesn’t help, try Uninstall device, then restart your PC to reinstall the driver automatically.
Use HP Hardware Diagnostics
Run a keyboard test using HP's built-in diagnostics:
- Turn off your notebook.
- Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select Component Tests > Keyboard Test.
Clean Boot (Optional)
A clean boot can help identify if background software is interfering:
- Follow this guide: How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support
Consider a System Restore or Windows Reset
If the issue started recently, a System Restore might help.
- Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, the Delete key may be physically faulty. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - India | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
