HP 15-AF131DX P1A95UA#ABA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The Keyboard letters QWE sropped operating in quick succession a while back. It was not a result of a spill or any other keyboard mishap.

I have checked underneath the keys and seeing nothing untoward. Nor are the keyboard drivers at fault....have been reinstalled and replaced.   Have used HP troubleshooting suggestions. Ditto various other online suggestions including Geek with no success.

AT this point I would  be grateful to know if it may be a case of replacing the whole keyboard or is it more likely to be a circuit board problem.

Your advice would be valued.

Thankyou,

Jess

@Mumstheword1, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the keyboard is not working on the Notebook. To assist you better,

  • Have you tried connecting an external keyboard and check if that works?
  • Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Keyboard Troubleshooting

Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Also, check for any pending windows update. Reboot the computer.

If the issue persists, let us run a test on the keyboard

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. Perform ComponentTest >Keyboard. Share the result in your next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
