OMEN Laptop - 15-en0025no
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My key letter "R" is laggy, not working very often, or not responding at all sometimes. Very frustrating playing SC2 online and your Roaches not comming to w*r.

Well, I have already spent a lot of hours by looking for solution. I have also tried to find a solution on my own by unistalling drivers (official ones) and reinstalling once again. All updates done from the side of HP support assistant SW, also from W10 updates side. Nothing of that was really helpfull. Then I realized, the only one thing I changed before the problem appeared, was installation of HP OMEN Gaming HUB to manage my RGB on keyboard.

So I uninstalled it and spent two rounds in SC2 playing without any visible trouble.  I have to do more testing and observation, but someone can find this helpfull a bit.

Anyone from HP support center, I am speaking to you. It is a well known problem on your side. The users know that. Can you please confirm, it is a HW or SW problem? What is the right solution? Changing keyboard (150£)? Looking for specific SW colision? As what I have read, changing of the keyboard was not helpfull for a long time period, or it was not working at all.

As my laptop warranty is expired actually, I am looking for a solution...

Thanks in advance for any reaction.

Pavel

Hi@MTysonFG,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing R key issues with the HP OMEN Laptop.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Try with an alternate USB/Wireless Keyboard and check if it works.
  • If the issue still persists then it could be a hardware issue with the R key on the Keyboard.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi@Dilip_18

As far as I have written in my first post, I have already tried those steps you mentioned in your respond. But I have tried at least the BIOS once again (you never know, right?). But it did not helped me at all.

My USB keyobard from Razer is working in every way, but if I would like to play on a trip, there is no chance to make the "R" key properly working. So you suggest contact the support center in my country. I can do that, but I am also not willing to pay about 200£ for a non warranty repair, as this is without any doubts a production defect, as I can see from many claims your company received through the last few years on this exact problem. It does not matter, which letter it is, but the mistake is here and my bad luck, I ran out of warranty.

I have decided for HP brand, cause we use it in whole company, but now I see, why we would not do that in the future. Not because of HP support, but reliability of HW.

You have tried the best you can, thank you.

Hi@MTysonFG,

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and effort.

I apologize for the Inconvenience. It could be a hardware issue on the R key.

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would request you to contact our HP Support Engineers and should be able to sort this out.
