Keyboard's shift key and M key are not responding and space key keeps on interrupting the input itself continuously and when pressed does not respond. What should be the possibile problem?

Hi @Joker2301,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's unfortunate to hear that you're experiencing keyboard issues with your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 after updating to Windows 11. Keyboard problems can be caused by a variety of factors, including software and hardware issues.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor software glitches. Try restarting your laptop and see if the keyboard issues persist.
  • Check for Updates: Make sure that you have the latest updates installed for both Windows 11 and your HP Pavilion Gaming 15. Microsoft and HP may release patches that address keyboard-related problems.
  • Check for Driver Updates: Outdated or incompatible keyboard drivers can cause issues. Go to the Device Manager, locate your keyboard, right-click, and select "Update driver." Follow the on-screen instructions to check for updates.
  • Uninstall Recent Software: If the problem started after a recent software installation, consider uninstalling that software to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Check for Viruses and Malware: Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to rule out any malicious software causing the keyboard problems.
  • Test in Safe Mode: Restart your laptop in Safe Mode (press F8 or Shift+F8 during boot) and see if the keyboard works correctly. If it does, a third-party software or driver may be causing the problem.
  • External Keyboard Test: Connect an external USB keyboard to your laptop and see if it works properly. If it does, it may indicate a hardware issue with your laptop's built-in keyboard.
  • Clean the Keyboard: Dust and debris can sometimes cause keys to become unresponsive. Carefully clean the keyboard using compressed air or a can of keyboard cleaner.
  • Perform a System Restore: If the issue occurred shortly after a Windows update, you can perform a system restore to a point before the update to see if that resolves the problem.
  • Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the keyboard for any physical damage or loose connections. If you find any, you may need to replace the keyboard.

Remember to back up your important data before attempting any major troubleshooting or system restore, just in case. Keyboard issues can be frustrating, but with patience and the right steps, you should be able to resolve them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
