So this has been happening randomly while playing multiplayer games so it can be very frustrating when trying to WASD and then it wont go forward or left or right or back, its like its stuck. There is no delay on screen, so it seems like its just something with the keyboard. I life my fingers up off the keys and try again and then it starts working again (after I'm pretty much killed in the game). I haven't had this kind of problem before but it is very frustrating.
The CPU is the 4600h and the GPU is the GTX1650.
Thanks for any help.
EDIT: I just found another thread with someone having the same problem on a different model. Maybe this is happening more often for people lately, so hopefully there is a fix. BIOS issue?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to complete functional test of the keyboard and identify any problems with the hardware.
NOTE: Bluetooth devices are not currently supported.
-
Download the latest version of HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
-
In Windows, search for and right-click HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows, and then select Run as administrator.
-
Click Component Tests, click Input Devices and then select the Keyboard Test.
-
Click Run once to begin the test.
The test ends when you complete the tasks or after 3 minutes.
For more information about using the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows, go to HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for the response. The keyboard passed that test no problem (as I expected since I don't a problem with any keys not working at all). The issue is as I described where it will randomly stop responding during gaming and I have to take lift my fingers off the board and then it will work again. Its almost like the keyboard itself is freezing up, and I have seen others with other model laptops on here now describing the same issue. I'm guessing a firmware update will be needed? Or maybe it is actually just faulty keyboards.
Here are threads of people with my same issue:

I haven't noticed it happening while typing, but that probably wouldn't really have it show up since in games is when you would be constantly pressing WSAD and also holding them down in a variety of combinations.

Thank you for posting back.
This sounds like your game conflict as other keyboard functions properly, I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to Remote into your computer and sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
