Hi @Rohit224

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with the keypad, which requires a restart each time to function, only to stop working again afterward. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Reinstall Keyboard Drivers

  • If updating doesn’t help, reinstalling drivers can clear corruption.
  • Go to Device Manager → Keyboards
  • Right-click your keyboard device
  • Select Uninstall device
  • Restart your laptop to let Windows reinstall drivers automatically

Disable Power Management for Keyboard

  • Windows may turn off the keyboard to save power, causing it to stop working.
  • Go to Device Manager → Keyboards → Properties → Power Management
  • Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
  • Click OK and restart

Check for Windows Updates

  • Pending updates may include fixes for input device stability.
  • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update
  • Click Check for updates
  • Install all available updates
  • Restart your system

Test with External Keyboard

  • Helps confirm if the issue is hardware-related or software-related.
  • Connect an external USB keyboard
  • Check if it works consistently
  • If external keyboard works fine, the issue may be with the built-in keypad hardware

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
