Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

HP Envy DV6-7214R
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've noticed that my battery has completely drained (I only use my laptop plugged) and it is stuck in 0%. If I disconnect from the power cord it will shut down immediately.

I've already tried uninstalling the AC Power Drivers in Devide Manager, and also a hard reset without the battery,  but it did'nt help at all.

It says "0% available, connected". In my battery symbol, it says "connected", but it doesn't say that it is charging (and it doesn't say that it is NOT CHARGING either! Weird huh?)

I ran the HP Battery Test of the HP Support Assistant, and I've got the following error:

Error Unknown

Main Battery: Replace (40)

Faild ID: RE00W

Status: 4AD0
Design Capacity: 5585 mAh
Complete Capacity: 2074 mAh (37%) ==> I thought this seems weird, the battery seems to be rechargeable still.

Remaining Capacity: 0 mAh
Current: 0 mA

I also ran the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Tool and got this result on the battery test:

So although the HP Support Assistant tells me to replace the battery, I feel that I might have to test this failing battery in another compatible laptop to be sure that it is really the battery that is dead. I just don't want to buy a new battery only to find out that the battery is not the real problem.

Do you guys have any different ideas of how to better diagnose this problem and possible solutions?

Cheers!

Those two items tell me that the battery must be replaced to restore mobile use to the notebook.  Sorry, but there is just no way around it.

You could go further and have Windows provide a Battery report, but it will just tell you the same thing that i just did.   Producing the Windows Battery Report would just be time wasted that could be spent replacing the battery with no more service life with a new one.

No, I know that it would be better for me to have a brand new battery, I've heard that the lifespan of laptop batteries is 4 years and I have this one for 8 years now...

I would understand if the battery would charge up to 100% and then lasted like only 5 minutes until getting depleted, but the way it is, just being depleted and not charging at all, it's just weird.

I think it's kinda fishy that it just stopped charging out of the blue, so I'm afraid a new battery won't charge too.

I think I'll have to have it tested by some technician, put another similar battery and test it before.
