I realize that there are countless threads on this any many other forums regarding hinge failure on HP Laptops, but I have not found a solution to my particular problem resulting from my efforts to repair the hinge mountings. I have taken my laptop apart as far as I am able but I cannot separate the top cover from the base. I have removed the screen surround bezel, keyboard, cd drive, memory, disk drives and all screws (that I can see and find) securing the base.I am able to slide my finger around the edges of the base thereby lifting the top brushed silver cover away around alledges, but it seems held down in the middle near to where the memory modules were. I just cannot see what is holding it at that point and am reluctant to apply too much upward force to that top portion.

Can anyone please advise as to what might be holding it together? I have watched several YouTube instructional videos  but on different models and thhose parts come apart easily. I cannot belive that iI have left a screw as I have scrutinized the upper and lower sections with strong light and magnifying glass!laptop 1.jpg

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
