Hello,

My laptop left hinge broke and the left corner of the case is cracked and bulging.  The crack is getting bigger and I'm afraid the laptop will be unusable soon.

This issue is occurring via  normal use, so I assume it is a design flaw with the hinge?

Please help.

Thank you in advance.

The laptop is one year past warranty.   And  HP is saying for it to be serviced by a 3rd party, where I would pay out of pocket.

Considering the issue is due to poor design choice of materials, I would expect HP to have a better solution.

I think it's more than reasonable  to expect a laptop case to remain functional beyond 2 years, from regular opening/closing of the lid.

Are there any other solutions for this issue?

Thank you

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Thank you for the response, however no one has private messaged me.

And the crack in the case has continued to worsen.

The solution offered was a $300 repair with a 30 day warranty.

The laptop  originally retailed for around $450 and broke within 2 years due to a faulty product design/build.

This is a terrible resolution.  I spend an additional 300 for a fix that is only guaranteed for 30 days?  You can do better HP.

At this point, just send me the part and I'll fix it myself.
