Incredible. I just spent 30 minutes in a chat with an HP Support Rep who, when all was said and done informed me that he could not provide me with an HP P/N since the Laptop was not purchased at the HP Store. Having been a Network Administrator for 40 years at Lockheed, Raytheon and Qualcomm my immediate and fast conclusion is this had to be off-shore support and I use that term very, very loosely.

Anyway, I have an HP 14-dk1000 Laptop PC (8VZ02AV) with 4GB of RAM and need to upgrade same to its maximum capacity of 16GB. Oddly enough the HP site is not returning any results nor is Crucial's site. Does anyone have an HP or Crucial P/N for two modules to get me there?

Many thanks,

Lyman

Hi:

When I enter the product number you posted in the HP partsurfer website, it doesn't provide much help.

it gives me two pages of product numbers under the one you posted, and it provides the following model in the heading which comes with 8 GB of memory (see second link).

HP PartSurfer

HP Laptop - 14-dk1074nr Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

What model processor does your notebook have?

HP only has the manual for the older model series and according to chapter 1 of the manual, the notebook can have one or two memory slots depending on what model processor it has.

HP 14-dk1000 Laptop PC series Manuals | HP® Customer Support

The Crucial memory report for the general 14-dk1000 indicates it has one memory slot and can support a max of 1 x 16 GB of memory.

Thanks Paul! Processor is AMD Ryzen 3. This is as I more / less expected extremely slow with 4GB albeit I did not expect it to be this slow.

Really appreciate the assistance and will mark your other reply as the final solution. I thought this Laptop had two memory slots but will confirm there is only one.

Best,

You're very welcome.

If you find that your notebook has two memory slots, it should support 2 x 16 GB of memory.

You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can support:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Thanks again Paul!
