Hi;

I have a HP 15-dy2000 (2D117AV) that I am thinking of upgrading the RAM.  Currently it has 8 GB DDR4-2666 MHz RAM (2 x 4 GB), transfer rates up to 2666 MT/s according to the laptop specs page.   But some websites say it uses DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz SODIMM NON-ECC Unbuffered 260pin 1.2V CL15 Single Rank.

So my question is what RAM should i be using?

@Hugger1,

If your model has an Intel Core 11th gen processor, it supports DDR4-3200 memory.

I have an HP 15-dy2xxx with an Intel i5- 1135G7 processor, and HP parts list and other documents all indicate that my notebook has DDR4-2666 memory but actually came with DDR4-3200 RAM.

If you haven't already checked your memory type, do so by going to Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc) -> Performance -> Memory.

If you don't see "Speed: 3200 MT/s" there, perhaps your model doesn't have an Intel Core 11th gen processor. Post back with the exact model number or product number (ProdID), which are printed on the back cover of your notebook.

@tk_srq  Thanks for the info,  I have the same processor as you.

Would I be able to put diiferent RAM into my laptop, if necessary?  I've been looking for almost a week and haven't been able to find any DDR4-3200 RAM.  I have found some DDR4-2666 RAM and I hope that it's still available when I go to place  the order in  a few days.  If not would DDR4 2133MHz (PC4-2133P) PC4-17000 SODIMM RAM – 260-Pin 1.2V CL15 Non-ECC Unbuffered Memory work in my laptop?
