Hi;
I have a HP 15-dy2000 (2D117AV) that I am thinking of upgrading the RAM. Currently it has 8 GB DDR4-2666 MHz RAM (2 x 4 GB), transfer rates up to 2666 MT/s according to the laptop specs page. But some websites say it uses DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz SODIMM NON-ECC Unbuffered 260pin 1.2V CL15 Single Rank.
So my question is what RAM should i be using?

Don't buy DDR4-2133 or -2666 RAM.
See Intel specs for i5-1135G7. It supports DDR4-3200. You shouldn't install RAM slower than 3200 MT/s.
Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 Processor
HP notebooks with Intel Core 11th gen processors support 32 GB (2x16 GB) DDR4-3200 memory.
I don't know how much RAM you want to upgrade to. 16 GB or 32 GB?
Crucial memory is a good choice as it has great compatibility with HP notebooks. Here are some examples. If you want to use another brand, be sure that it is DDR4-3200 CL22 memory.
16 GB (2x8 GB) DDR4-3200
32 GB (2x16 GB) DDR4-3200

If your model has an Intel Core 11th gen processor, it supports DDR4-3200 memory.
I have an HP 15-dy2xxx with an Intel i5- 1135G7 processor, and HP parts list and other documents all indicate that my notebook has DDR4-2666 memory but actually came with DDR4-3200 RAM.
If you haven't already checked your memory type, do so by going to Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc) -> Performance -> Memory.
If you don't see "Speed: 3200 MT/s" there, perhaps your model doesn't have an Intel Core 11th gen processor. Post back with the exact model number or product number (ProdID), which are printed on the back cover of your notebook.

@tk_srq Thanks for the info, I have the same processor as you.
Would I be able to put diiferent RAM into my laptop, if necessary? I've been looking for almost a week and haven't been able to find any DDR4-3200 RAM. I have found some DDR4-2666 RAM and I hope that it's still available when I go to place the order in a few days. If not would DDR4 2133MHz (PC4-2133P) PC4-17000 SODIMM RAM – 260-Pin 1.2V CL15 Non-ECC Unbuffered Memory work in my laptop?

Hi again tk_srq. I won't be buying any DDR4-2133 or 2666 RAM. I checked the Intel specs for the i5-1135G7 as you suggested. I currently have 8 Gb of RAM in it now and I'll be upgrading to 32 Gb. I've seen some websites that say the HP 15-dy2000 (2D117AV) can have up to 64 Gb of RAM. But 32 Gb is good enough for me.
I was under the impression that due to the RAM in the laptop now, DDR4-3200, having a CL rating of 15 that the upgraded RAM had to have the same CL rating. But I was in CPUID CPU-Z earlier today and I noticed that the CL number was yo-yoing between 15 and 22. I've found a few different brands / models that have the DDR4-3200 CL22 RAM and they are in stock. I'll be ordering them in a day or two. I think one of the brands / models on my list is Crucial. I'll decide which one to buy just before I’m ready to put the order in. I'll be buying a 32 Gb kit, as the kits are a few dollars less expensive that buying two individual 16 Gb RAM sticks.
I'd like to thank you for the help. Without the help I'd probably still be trying to figure out what is what and what to do.
