I want to upgrade my HP Spectre x360 16-aa0500na laptop from 1TB to a 2TB SSD.    Can this laptop support a 2TB SSD?

Yes, chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that HP offered 2 TB NVMe SSDs in the model series:

 

Maintenance and Service Guide HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC Model numbers: 16-aa0xxx
