This is my son Laptop,
HP Pavilion 15.6 Gaming ec2010ax
When he plays Roblox or Forza Horizon 4 and use charger, the game is very laggy and slow.
But when he use battery without charge, the game very smooth and good.
So i bring the laptop to HP Service Center in our City (Surabaya, Indonesia),
after couple of days Service Center inform that the main board have to replace and the price is very ridiculous
because the cost is more expensive than the price when buy at 2022 (age about 2 years +).
(buy at about $950 and the cost for motheboard replace is $1.290 at October 2024)
They told that already tried with another charger with same type, but the laggy and slow still the same.
The service center doesn't give another solution, they said that just cancel the service for free.
Has anyone ever experienced this? please share if you have solution

Hi @YosefR,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with performance issues, especially when charging your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop. The behavior you're experiencing—where games run smoothly on battery but lag when plugged in—can be attributed to several factors. Here are some potential solutions and things to consider.
Power Settings
- Check Power Plan: Ensure that the laptop is set to "High Performance" in the Windows power settings when plugged in. Sometimes, the power plan can throttle performance to save energy.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > select High Performance.
Battery Health
- Battery Settings: It’s possible that the battery is causing performance throttling when charging. Use software like HWMonitor or BatteryInfoView to check the health of the battery. If the battery is degraded, it may affect performance.
- Battery Calibration: Try calibrating the battery to see if it helps with performance issues.
Graphics Settings
- Graphics Card Settings: Ensure that the game is using the dedicated GPU (if available) rather than the integrated GPU. You can adjust this in the NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings.
- In-game Settings: Lower the graphics settings in Roblox and Forza Horizon 4 to see if that improves performance.
Driver Updates
- Update Drivers: Ensure that all drivers, especially graphics drivers, are up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Support Assistant or manually download them from the HP website.
Thermal Throttling
- Temperature Monitoring: High temperatures can lead to thermal throttling. Use monitoring software to check CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming. If they are too high, clean the fans, and ensure that the laptop is well-ventilated.
- Cooling Pad: Consider using a cooling pad to help manage temperatures during gaming sessions.
BIOS Settings
- BIOS Update: Check if there’s a BIOS update available. Sometimes manufacturers release updates that resolve power management issues.
- Reset BIOS Settings: If the issue started after changing settings, consider resetting the BIOS to default settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
