Hi @CoffeeKing
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand how worrying it feels when a laptop refuses to power on or charge, especially when you’ve already tried plugging it in. Thank you for checking that detail.
Let’s go through a structured set of steps together to help bring your laptop back to life.
Step 1: Check Power Source
- Ensure the wall outlet is working by testing it with another device.
- If using a surge protector or extension cord, try plugging the adapter directly into the wall.
Step 2: Inspect the Charger and Cable
- Confirm the power adapter and cable are firmly connected at both ends.
- Look for any damage, bent pins, or loose connections.
- If available, test with another compatible HP adapter.
Step 3: Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove any external devices.
- If the battery is removable, take it out.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
- Reconnect the adapter (and battery if removable) and try powering on again.
Step 4: Check for Power Indicators
- Observe whether the charging LED near the power port lights up when plugged in.
- If the LED does not glow, the issue may be with the adapter or internal power circuitry.
Step 5: Try a Different Boot Method
- With the adapter connected, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Release and press it again briefly to see if the laptop starts.
Step 6: Run Hardware Diagnostics
- If the laptop powers on but does not boot, press Esc repeatedly at startup.
- Select F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run the Battery Test and AC Adapter Test.
Step 7: Use the HP App
- On another device, install the HP App.
- Add your laptop and check for any alerts or guidance related to charging or power.
By following these steps, you can confirm whether the issue is with the adapter, battery, or internal power system. Starting with a hard reset and checking the charger usually gives the quickest path forward.
