Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Until this morning, my computer was working completely fine, until I found it wouldn't boot despite having charge. Now the only way I can boot it is if it is powered by the AC adapter.

While powered on, the battery symbol does not appear on the task bar, and running the boot up diagnostics and the HP support assistant diagnostics fail to find the battery. Even with this I am able to unplug my computer with it still staying powered on, but I've noticed the LED next to the charging port flashes white.

So far I have tried updating the BIOS, uninstalling the drivers and doing a hard reset (without removing the battery, as it is integrated), but none of these have seemed to want to work. If anyone has any other tips for what I could try, then Im all ears.

EDIT: After more trying to find the issue I've found my computer boots up without the ac adapter if I press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, but the battery is still undetected

Hi

The symptoms seem similar to your description.  So.........

This will not work for everyone, but you may be lucky?

HP Notebooks and Mobile Workstations -
No Power, No Boot, No Display When Power Button Is Pressed

NOTE: Be sure the battery is installed in the computer and it has sufficient power before continuing. Due to the design of the Embedded Controller/Keyboard Controller, the power supply must be disconnected and the computer must be powered with battery power to reset the Embedded Controller/Keyboard Controller.

Unplug the AC power from the computer.
Press and hold the power button for more than 12 seconds.
Release the power button (after at least 12 seconds).
The computer will power on and should boot normally after releasing the power button.
Re-connect the AC power to the computer.

NOTE: In case the battery is not charging after performing the steps to reset the Embedded Controller, unplug and re-plug in the AC power again.

Hi there,

Thank you for the response, unfortunately the battery is still unable to be detected.

I believe the problem may be stemming from a missing battery driver, as in my drivers menu only 'Microsoft AC adapter' shows underneath battery (Even if hidden drivers can be seen)
