Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When opening the laptop the right corner of the case separates at the hinge, pulls away from dvd drive. Nothing is cracked or broken

Yet. Can we have the full model number please. How old is the laptop?

It just says hp15 touch smart, which is weird.  I have purchased pavillions in the past, I assumed this was one.

And just bought in August 2018

You said 17 inch and now it seems to be 15 inch. Is the battery removeable or internal? There is going to be an identification label either on the bottom of the laptop or inside the battery bay. You are still under warranty and need to be making a warranty claim which you might think you are doing here but not so. I will try to escalate your concern to an HP person.

Thanks, you are right. I have the 17" Touch Smart but he manual says 15.  For whatever reason the HP assistant gives a product number but not a model. To be exact, prod #4SS61UA#ABA,  hp laptop 17-0byxxx.  How do I file a claim?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Support Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
