You said 17 inch and now it seems to be 15 inch. Is the battery removeable or internal? There is going to be an identification label either on the bottom of the laptop or inside the battery bay. You are still under warranty and need to be making a warranty claim which you might think you are doing here but not so. I will try to escalate your concern to an HP person.

Thanks, you are right. I have the 17" Touch Smart but he manual says 15. For whatever reason the HP assistant gives a product number but not a model. To be exact, prod #4SS61UA#ABA, hp laptop 17-0byxxx. How do I file a claim?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Since this is a Hardware issue, I suggest you contact HP Support for Service Options
Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ and select your Country to get the Contact details for HP Support
