Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,

Ii would like to upgrade my laptop. I would like to know if my motherboard would be compatible with a SSD M.2 PCIe NVMe. My laptop is HP Pavilion 15-bc004ur, motherboard model is G35A, i tried to find out in the documentation but i could not. I opened backplate of the laptop, and there is a slot named 16202n. I am not sure if it supports SSD M.2 NVMe. I will appreciate if someone could help me.

P.S. I am also planning to upgrade RAM. Do you have some recommendations for my laptop?

Thank you all.

@Altay,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Yes, your HP Pavilion 15-bc004ur is fitted with an M.2 NVMe SSD slot as per: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06325755.pdf (see number 8):

Not to be confused with number 11, which is an M.2 slot for a WLAN module.

Hope this was helpful.

Hi, @Altay

That particular model series may have a problem with a NVMe SSD working.

In theory one should work because chapter 1, page 5 of the service manual indicates that Intel Optane memory is supported.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion Notebook PC

However, it also states that only M.2 SATA SSD's are supported in the 15-bc4xx model series.

You will find posts on this forum where one person installed NVMe SSD in the 15-bx4xx model series and it didn't work.

Why, I do not know.

@Altay,

And with regard to RAM upgrading, your HP Pavilion 15-bc004ur according to: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-15-bc004ur#memory, can be fitted with up to 2 x 8GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, NON-ECC, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM.

Observation: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06325755.pdf mentions a "DDR4-2400/2666 bridge", and even though I am not sure what that means (is 2666 MHz RAM speed achievable?), it is of interest to note that Crucial did list 2666 MHz DDR4 and even 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM as being compatible.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
