Microsoft Windows 11

Good afternoon. I have a HP EliteBook 840 G7 Notebook PC that came with 1 stick of 16GB RAM and having an additional RAM slot empty for future upgrades. As per the label, here are the specs of the installed RAM that came with:

Samsung S1SHA200423943EA4D

16GB 2RX8 PC4-2666V-SE1-11

M471A2K43DB1-CTD

I purchased another stick of 16GB to be able to get 32GB (2x16GB) in total, specs as follows:

Samsung K0KG000916259BDB34

16GB 2R8 PC4-1666V-SE1-11

M471A2K34DB1-CDT

Regardless I install the new RAM on slot 1 or 2, having the one that came with connected, the computer does not shows even the "HP logo".... I have just the back-light on (keyboard). If I remove the stick I got and leave the one that came, then all is heaven... laptop boots normally and have no issues whatsoever...

According the specs I am able to use 2x16GB to make 32GB total.  Any input will be highly appreciate it.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Respectfully yours,

TheBigBosz.

Existing RAM

16GB 2RX8 PC4-2666V-SE1-11

M471A2K43DB1-CTD

and you added

16GB 2R8 PC4-1666V-SE1-11

M471A2K34DB1-CDT

Why not use the same existing RAM ?

Regards.

Hello there, well, the MB came with 1 stick only and having the second one free, why not to upgrade, right? So, I tried as much as possible to find "exactly" a very closer RAM and at the end of the day, the one I described I got, was the closest one. Now, I tried switching the existing one from slot 1 to slot 2 between both RAMs and as I previously mentioned, with the existing one plus the one I got, the system does not shows even the HP logo when the POST starts, and the tiny LED (located on "Caps Lock" key) blinks.... and that's it.... If I remove the RAM that came with the system and leave connected on Slot 1 the RAM I just got, same results.... however, if I remove the one I previously had and do not connect the one I got, the system boots as beauty with no issues....

Now, I did a miss-typo... both are:

16GB 2RX8 PC4-2666V-SE1-11

M471A2K43DB1-CTD

I do apologize for the inconvenience. I didn't noticed. Thank you for showing that! I error!

So, with that being said, I have no idea why the laptop is behaving that way if "supposedly" the RAM I got should be compatible with the system.

Thanks,

@Banhien:

Good afternoon, I hope your day is going well.

If you maybe would be able to advise here, regarding my HP EliteBook 840 G7 Notebook PC with the 16GB RAM, I will highly appreciate it!:

The original that came with the system:

Samsung S1SHA200423943EA4D
16GB 2RX8 PC4-2666V-SE1-11
M471A2K43DB1-CTD

This last Saturday, I got another one, after return the Samsung (and you commented about it):

Samsung K0KG000916259BDB34
16GB 2R8 PC4-2666V-SE1-11
M471A2K34DB1-CDT

The one I got this time is:

SK hynix
16GB 2Rx8 PC4-2666V-SE1-11
HMA82GS6JJR8N-VK N0 AC 1908

However, STILL THE SAME ISSUE. And I am pretty sure IS NOT the laptop due to I tried the one that came with and I have no problems at all. With this SK hynix, the laptop behave exactly with the same issue when adding the RAM to the Slot#2.

Any idea? I will highly appreciate any input. Honestly I though with this SK hynix my problem was supposed to be solved but seems like I was wrong... again....

Thanks!

Warm Regards,
