My laptop was working perfectly when "Wait while we carry out a system update" was displayed on the boot(?) screen. This was displayed for 90 minutes. On recommendation I powered off my laptop, waited for 5 minutes then repowered, only to get a blue screen and failed to boot. I got a blue screen with the message"Your system ran into a problem and needs to restart","we'll restart for you". This just recycles round incessantly. Evidently the update takes longer than normal or there is an error. Please help if you can.

Hi @Clarkie2,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy laptop encountered an issue during a system update, leading to a boot loop with the blue screen error message you described. This can be frustrating, but there are steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.
- Try Safe Mode: Sometimes you can boot into Safe Mode to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue. To do this, restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F8 or Shift + F8 key while it's booting up. This should bring up the Advanced Boot Options menu where you can select Safe Mode.
- System Restore: If you have a recent system restore point, you can try restoring your laptop to that point. This can revert any changes made by the update that may have caused the issue. You can access System Restore from the Advanced Boot Options menu or through Windows Recovery Environment.
- Startup Repair: You can try using the Startup Repair tool to automatically diagnose and fix boot problems. You can access this tool through the Advanced Boot Options menu or through Windows Recovery Environment.
- Recovery Options: If none of the above solutions work, you may need to consider using recovery options provided by HP. This might involve using a recovery disk or partition to reset your laptop to its factory settings. Be aware that this will erase all data on your laptop, so make sure to back up any important files beforehand if possible.
Before proceeding with any of these steps, it's important to ensure that your data is backed up, especially if you're considering a factory reset or other drastic measures that could result in data loss.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Alden4, thank you for your valued assistance, but regrettably all activities failed to bring my laptop to life, just a circulating "Your device has run into a problem......"...I have now sent my laptop off to a certified HP repair centre and hope that they can diagnose the problem and rectify.. Never the less I would like to stay in toúch with this community as it seems an excellent diagnostic source. Once again, thank you ALDEN4. Kind Regards Clarkie2. Ian Clarke (new member)
