I have recently discovered a very irritating and worrying grinding noise from my laptop fan.

The laptop was fine one minute, then I picked it up and put it down in a different room and suddenly the noise appeared.  It seems to be related to the fan, as when I am running applications which cause the fan to sound louder, the grinding noise is also louder. The laptop is just over 3 months old, so this is very concerning.

As my laptop is so new, it still has 9 months left on the manufacturer warranty, with detailed a level of service available given on the product warranty page. However, when clicking on the 'Contact a support agent' icon, I am told that because the laptop was purchased from Currys, the warranty does not apply. This conflicting information has been very confusing, and I'm hoping someone can help me get to the bottom of my problem.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
